I love my Dad to pieces, and I am so proud of him:)

I am so proud of my Dad.  At the age of 70, there is not a day that goes by that he does not teach me something new.  Technology in his eyes is just a part of his everyday life.  He is technology savvy, I guess in this case the apple did fall far fom the tree... it fell in aanother orchard..lol  Just one example of this is for Christmas he bought me a GPS.  When i opened it up, he was more excited than I was.  He was so anxious to "set it up" for me.  He programmed the GPS in no time and had me out all christmas morning practicing, going from one destination to the next...lol
My dad amazes me everyday.  There is not a day that goes by that I don't learn something from him.  I could go out today and buy an MP3 player, or any technology "gadget" I want , and he will have it set up in no time.
My Dad is the President of the legion here in Dalhousie, and represents all Veterens.  This title involes many meetings and presentations, and he does all the work presentations in microsoft word or powerpoint.
I guess what I am trying to say is that were are who we are cause thats where we choose to be.  My Dad would say "if I don't keep up with technology, i will loose out on alot of things in life."

MY SON SURPRISES ME WITH TECHNOLOGY EVERYDAY!!!

Friday after work, I was sitting with my son in the living room.  We were both kinda doing our own thing, he was on his Ipod touch, and i was on my laptop.  Suddenly, my cell phone, text ring, goes off.  I look down at it and it's some number that is not familiar to me.  I guess that was what my son was waiting for, the funny look on my face.  I couldn't figure out why until I read the message, it was from him...  I still couldn't figure out how he did it.  I asked him and he told me it was a free application in the Apps store, whatever that is.  With this said, he is learning something new about technology everyday, and at a way faster pace than me.

Kids are amazing:)

Each week since I started school, I sit with my son at night and we sometimes do our homework together.  And if we are not doing homework together he comes to watch me do mine...  Its real nice.  Sometimes I will explain to him what I'm doing and that i'm having a hard time.  He will say well why don't you tell me and maybe I can help...I'm thinking, ya right, this is University.  Well, a few times I took my chances and amazinly enough,  he did have some very great ideas that I did work into my assignments, He is only 12years old, but they seem to know so much more than what we do... They are so much more avanced and have a better understanding of technology and different things because of the way they are being taught.  They are so much more creative and not so afraid to make mistakes.  Hats off to these amazing kids.

Technology, technology, technology

Wow!!  I've learned so much in so little time.  I really think technology is going to make teaching much easier and so much fun for both me and the students.  Technology makes differentiated instruction easy, with the use of powerpoint and digital storytelling which we just learned about... I love it.  What a way to capture the attention of students.  I cant wait to use these tools to teach.

Technology

Technology is so amazing.   Kids today, don't realize how lucky they really are, to have all the information they could ever imagine, right at their finger tips...  All these classes that I am taking now to complete my degree, can be done right at home... even the class itself.  Any research that is needed for papers is all right on my laptop.  Years ago, when I was at UNB we went to the library and did our research in books...  Education did benefit from technology, but other aspects of the work world have been hit hard and technology has created an economic downfall, an example being retail, how it is so easy to buy online now.
